Broadstairs and Cambridge
This trip to the UK was planned around Helen’s birthday and the 70th birthday celebration of a long standing friend, Jacqueline. We met Jacqueline and Simon whe we moved to Cambridge in 1970 and both we and they were married that summer.
First stop was a visit to Mayville Mews to see house progress. The roof is now in place and work is now moving to the garage and utility room which are both at a different height. Windows are mostley installed, but the conservatory is waiting for the solicitors to deal with various issues, before we can exchange contracts.
The first event was Helen’s birthday in Broadstairs . She and Nick were able to go out for a meal on her birthday while we babysat and went away for a night in Sandwich at the Salutation. The other major event was the World Cup and we managed to see a couple of matches.
At the weekend, Helen and Nick went away and, on Sunday, we took the boys to London, at Ernie’s request.
Following a tour of St Pancrea and Kings Cross, we took a taxi to the Diana memorial playground which Helen recommended .
The boys loved it; everything is done so well. The pirate ship is obviously very populat, Waukesha the wigwams were quiet while we were there. The boys enjoyed the ‘beach’ and rocks as well as the wooden climbing area with slides, etc.
We had two tired boys by the end of the day.
During the week, we had time with them both - we were lucky that the weather was very good and so made good use of the beach.

On Friday, we travelled to Cambridge react for the party in Saturday. We managed to catch up with Pat’s former colleague, Maggire on Friday evening and the went on the the 70th birthday party on Saturday. We enjoyed seeing our old friends and their family.
John cam prepared and took the group photo.
We returned to Beziers on Sunday. There is a bus from the airport, but no other buses run on Sunday, so we had decided to eat in Beziers and then find a taxi. This was easier said that done on World. Up final day, when France are in the final.
We went to a restaurant where there was a big screen ans watched France win over Croatia.
As we headed up the Ave Paul Riquet in search of a taxi, the celebrations were in full swing and roads were blocked by people.
We rang for a taxi, but had a longer wait than normal while the friver negotiated his way to the rank.
We got home eventually, but later than we had envisaged.

Fantastic post! seeing this location I just hope I get married in one of the wedding venues Los Angeles like this. I would probably keep a pirate theme for my wedding day. I enjoyed going through this post. It makes me get up from my place and go on a vacation.
