We returned to France in Mid July and were happy to be home for a while and see friends, especially those who are often here just in the summer months.  We also looked forward to the annual village festival and the music.

For a number of years, the festival has been organised by a group of local villages, but reorganisation in France meant that the villages were no longer in the same commune and in 2017, our village organised a smaller version on its own.  Fortunately, it was a huge success and so in 2018, three other villages joined us and again, it was a great success and its future should be assured, although it is now shorter.

The venue is a wine domain lose to us and so we can walk down to he events.  The opening event, however is always in the centre of the village, where we sat on stone steps at lunch time on Sunday.

We then had a busy week, with two more concerts and apes with friends, before we set off for Broadstairs on the train.

John has some distant cousin, Matt in the Hague and this year, they were holidaying in Cornwall and returning via Broadstairs on their way to Dover.  Their children are close in age to Ernie and Lenny and so we hoped to get them all together for a photo.

We had an enjoyable day with the family,  with Len and the eldest, Flint and then in the afternoon with Ernie and Charlie Fenn and Voss.

Helen and Nick managed to get away for a night and we took the boys to London on the train.

Little progress was obvious on our house, so in-between times, we viewed some more houses in order to have a plan B.

We are pleased to say that progress has improved and we have now exchanged contracts with a completion date of September 19th.  We shall see!
