A belated welcome to our 2018 blog.
We are a little late in starting this year: we have been busy selling our Cambridge house and trying to buy another in Broadstairs close to Helen.
We travelled to Broadstairs in mid December via Lyon, where we celebrated Pat's birthday with two excellent meals.
We even saw snow! This was from the train, but we also walked around Lyon gingerly on the day that we departed.
We have rented a flat very close to Helen for 4 months, so that we have time to deal with the purchase of another house without bothering the family too much. Of course we have been delighted to have extended time with the boys and tried to make ourselves useful in looking after them.
Our first job was to travel up to Cambridge to see such furniture that we were taking into storage.
We said goodbye to Jim's tree: he planted a horse chestnut when he was nearly 2 - this was taken nearly 40 years later.
When we returned to Broadstairs and unpacked, we were soon ready for a whirlwind tour of houses for sale. We then relaxed and enjoyed Christmas with all the family, including Sophie who arrived on Christmas day.
Needless to say that the weather in Broadstairs was somewhat colder that we would have expected in Thezan. Fortunately we were prepared! Lenny was soon making it clear that swings in the park were not on the cards in early January and so we just had to visit Morelli's.
Ernie, on he other hand, was up for a game of crazy golf whenever it was offered
We saw some fiersom waves at Ramsgate on one of our walks and on New Year's Day, found a grotty cafe at the ed of the pier to shelter in .... it was quite busy. The weather had been so bad on New Year's Eve that the fireworks were cancelled. We saw a family setting off their fireworks from the cafe
This was the view:
We stayed on in Broadstairs until we had signed for a new build house about 2 miles from Helen and on the Loop bus route that connects Thanet together and stops very close to Helen and the new house.
We are now back in Thezan for about 4 weeks, then back to Thanet to Ernie sit for an Inset day and to view house progress.
